Politics will not be our saviour.
No demagogue can be our God.
Affiliations, denominations, campaign donations, Christmas decorations and stores of ammunition must all be yielded and submitted. These things cannot have our hearts, and will not save us when the day comes.
They won't even save us before the day comes. They may damn us.
We have no business walking in the counsel of the wicked, standing in the way of sinners, or sitting in the seat of scoffers. This path is chaff and dust. Let the wind drive it away, Let the sun burn it up.
Take the harder, narrower road, the path that runs in between the self-righteous left and the self-righteous right. On this way people will drop stones from both sides, bandits will appear around every bend, wires will be strewn across to trip your feet, pits will be dug to snare you. But do not lose hope. This is the way. It is the Way.
Put your trust in the One who fashioned the Way, and who walked it before you. Follow his steps, not down the yellow brick road, but down the dusty lane marked with drops of blood. These are bread crumbs that will lead us home.
So ignore the foolish rantings of those who long to have their faces on every screen and poster and ballot box. Tune them out. Stop clicking. Speak and act kindness and love and mercy, scream for true justice, and let your lifestyle announce your allegiance.
